See below an interesting article on how to stay warm in cold conditions. It`s really about understanding how convection and conduction works. Another interesting fact to add is that if you can keep your core warm enough you are less likely to get cold hands, fingers, feet and toes. When the core of the body starts to cool down it takes heat from the non essential life upholding extremities to support the vital organs. So simply put - rug up the core of your body to help avoid cold hands and feet! Please note - for those with arthritis or other blood circulation issues, be prepared to add double socks and gloves!

  • Add layers of clothing (get old school with long johns, woollen socks etc)
  • Shivering is a warning sign you are too cold. And after that shivering stops, if you don not heat up, you are in trouble
  • A higher calorie intake is recommended (Wohoo! More hot chocolate!)
  • Stay hydrated (NOT with alcohol, though...)
  • Get used to it, be prepared and know your risks
  • Skip the booze altogether
  • Use one of our wheatbags or hot water bottles to stay toasty!

YES! We have listened and are now busily making our first soft, wide wale, cotton corduroy shoulder shaped wheatbags! We are aiming to have them online in late July. We will also add to the webstore the Large Rectangular ditto we have had for sale at markets and events for some time now. They have been a hit thanks to the classic nature of the soft material and Australian wheat - a classic combination. We will have some really nice, deep colours available: red, blue, aqua and dark brown. We will have the same choice of scents as per usual: lavender, fragrance free, eucalyptus, lemon myrtle, peppermint or vanilla. We think we will offer a cheaper introductory price just for `newsletter` subscribers so keep an eye out for that one!
