This was the first year we were exhibiting at Brisbane EKKA and we have found Brisbane people to be friendly, pleasant to deal with and in need of wheatbags. Who knew that in sub-tropical Queensland, wheatbags would be in demand? So much so, that we sold out from some stock lines and had to ship them directly to customers!

As we are constantly improving our website, we sometimes google the internet for information regarding The Australian Wheatbag Store. In one such search we found an article written about us at Agfest. We exhibited at Agfest in May 2011 and for our Tassie fans, we will be there May 2012.

Sweet Smell of success follows creative couple
By Jennifer Crawley
Asa Wassberg is still catching her breath after her first trip to Agfest. Demand for the Swedish woman's handmade wheatbags was so great,
Asa was at her sewing machine every day in a bid to fill orders.
"We heard that Agfest the the best show out of all the others for small business" Asa said.
"The people who organise it are open-minded and it is well run."
Asa and husband Jay have been making wheatbags for more than 10 years.
The Adelaide couple gets wheat from an organic farm in Tarlee near Gawler in South Australia's Barossa Valley.
The bags are made from hemp and sewn with organic cotton.
Asa and Jay travel to shows in a minibus which doubles as accommodation when they need it.
"We never know if we are going to break even." Asa said.
The couple sells their bags at shows in South Australia and Victoria and online.
The beautiful bags are scented with lavender, lemon myrtle or vanilla.
The different designs allow them to be fitted around the neck, stomach, forearms, legs, hands and feet.
There is even a wheatbag designed for the eyes.
The bags are popular among people living with arthritis, osteoporosis and Raynaud's disease.
Asa said the bags also helped people who had ching joints and poor circulation.
The level of demand for the Wassberg's products is so great, the couple plans to establish a "proper business".
"And we have been so busy at the shows we have had little time to upgrade our website.", Jay said.
"It's a work in progress."
